STEM Spark

The St. Augustine Branch is proud to sponsor an annual STEM SPARK Career Awareness Day for middle school girls.  The St. Johns County School District (SJCSD) collaborates with the AAUW to host this free event.  The purpose of this event is to bring awareness and evoke interest in STEM occupations.  Girls are encouraged to explore educational pathways to build strong, financially secure futures.  Middle-school girls are invited to attend small-group meetings with a variety of professional women working in STEM careers.  The event, which is held at a local school, also features a panel discussion about general issues helpful to girls considering STEM careers.  We have had tremendously positive feedback from the girls and parents who have attended, letting us know that positive women role-models are important to them.
