Middle School Girls interested in a!  Lab experience& hands-on activities

The St. Augustine Branch was proud to sponsor in 2017, 2018 and 2019 STEM SPARK Career Awareness Day for middle school girls.  The St. Johns County School District (SJCSD) collaborated with the AAUW to host this free event.  The purpose of this event was to bring awareness and evoke interest in STEM occupations.  Girls were encouraged to explore educational pathways to build strong, financially secure futures.  Middle-school girls were invited to attend small-group meetings with a variety of professional women working in STEM careers.  The event, held at a local school, also featured a panel discussion about general issues helpful to girls considering STEM careers.  We have had tremendously positive feedback from the girls and parents who have attended, letting us know that positive women role-models are important to them.
